The Mine Hill Township School District is governed by a seven-member Board of Education. Board members are elected to three-year terms and are responsible for managing the district's operations in accordance with state laws and regulations set by the New Jersey Department of Education.
 
The Board typically meets once (or occasionally twice) a month on Mondays, with meetings beginning at 6:30 PM (public session at 7:00 PM). Meeting schedules, including dates, times, and locations, are announced in advance in accordance with New Jersey’s Sunshine Law. The Board’s duties include establishing school policies, approving personnel appointments, adopting budgets, approving curriculum, awarding bids, and, in certain cases, making final decisions on controversial issues.

District Goals

  • Student Learning: Prepare for the new state adaptive test (NJSLA-Adaptive), use data tools to monitor growth, and provide early literacy screenings and Kindergarten readiness assessments.

  • School Climate: Bring back or adopt a program to support student social-emotional health, strengthen Responsive Classroom, and promote consistent discipline and attendance.

  • Facilities & Safety: Begin planning for a major renovation of the rear outdoor areas (playgrounds, fields, recess spaces), continue upgrades to classrooms and common areas, and improve safety through traffic flow improvements and secure facilities.  

  • Teaching & Staff: Expand professional development for teachers and aides, improve training and support, and strengthen collaboration across grade levels.

Board Goals

  • Accountability: Oversee progress on the district’s Strategic Plan and prepare for the upcoming QSAC state review.

  • Enrollment Planning: Study the impact of new housing developments, plan for additional space if needed, and implement periodic residency verification to ensure fairness for taxpayers.

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Negotiate a new teacher contract responsibly, align the budget with district priorities, and continue to support PreK expansion, facilities, and safety.
